GLOBAL LOGISTICS PROFILE It's not enough these days for businesses to maintain a solid relationship with their customers. They have to perform at a deep level, delivering premium service, innovating through technology and investing in employee growth and expertise. At Old Dominion Freight Line, we believe we are achieving on all of these levels, while keeping an eye on the future for new challenges, continuous improvement and always helping customers keep promises. OD started out more than 80 years ago with one truck and one route. That original route -- between Richmond and Norfolk, Virginia -- has expanded tremendously. Today, OD offers global transportation services with the help of thousands of employees. As they continue to provide premium service to our customers, OD continues to experience profitable growth within the industry. Our premium services consist of OD Domestic, OD Expedited, OD Global, OD Technology and OD Household Services. OD's business model has been validated by prominent media outlets and industry groups, including Forbes, Fortune and Mastio & Co.'s annual LTL Carrier Customer Value and Loyalty Study, as a top- performing company and national less-than-truckload carrier for several years in a row. Old Dominion provides high-quality regional, inter-regional and national service through one company at a fair and equitable price. The new benchmark that OD has created for high-quality service requires a long-term commitment to investing in capacity, people and technology. Much of this investment has gone into expanding the capacity of our 226 service centers and equipment, consistent with a strategy of maintaining the excess capacity needed to leverage industry consolidation and growth opportunities. Another key strategic investment priority -- and perhaps the most important -- is the investment in our people. Our success depends on the skill and performance of everyone in the OD Family, and we believe in continually educating and training to optimize our other investments. OD's steady and significant investments in technology have allowed us to improve our productivity, while also providing customers with freight visibility and other management tools that integrate seamlessly with their operations. In addition, we increased technology investment in 2016, which continues a long-term process to expand and enhance our technology platform. This effort is preparing Old Dominion for our anticipated growth trajectory over the next 10 to 20 years while also maximizing the operating efficiency of our business. These significant and ongoing investments reflect our long-term strategy of building a motivated, innovative and flexible OD team that strives to consistently surpass customers' expectations each day. -- David Congdon, CEO and Vice Chairman of Old Dominion Freight Line DAVID CONGDON, CEO AND VICE CHAIRMAN, OLD DOMINION FREIGHT LINE Much has changed over these 80 plus years, in our company and in our industry and in our world. Our commitment to "Helping the World Keep Promises" hasn't wavered. It is as strong as ever.
