This index was $174 or 10.6 percent below the same week last year, but $181 or 14.2 percent above the Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $1,279 per TEU. Comprehensive SCFI* Second week up: The Jan. 23, 2015, SCFI comprehensive reading was 1,091.48 points, rising 36.39 points or 3.4 percent above the week before, 42.60 points or 4.1 percent above year-end, but 82.51 points or 7 percent below a year ago. This index was 91.48 points or 9.1 percent above the Oct. 16, 2009, base of 1,000 points. To U.S. WEST COAST base ports* Reverses course: The Jan. 23, 2015, U.S. West Coast base port average spot rate was $2,063 per FEU, dropping $26 or 1.2 percent below the week before and $47 or 2.2 percent below a year ago. In contrast, this index was $5 or 0.2 percent above year-end and $632 or 44.2 percent above the Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $1,431 per FEU. To U.S. EAST COAST base ports* Record index: The Jan. 23, 2015, U.S. East Coast base port average spot rate was $4,748 per FEU, inching ahead $1 above the week before and $250 or 5.6 percent above year-end. This index was $1,321 or 38.5 percent above a year ago and $2,309 or 94.7 percent above the Oct. 16, 2009,F78 base rate of $2,439 per FEU. To NORTH EUROPE base ports* Second week up: The Jan. 23, 2015 North Europe base port average spot rate was $1,256 per TEU, jumping $248 or 24.6 percent above the week before and $171 or 15.8 percent above year-end. This index was $342 or 21.4 percent below a year ago although $24 or 1.9 percent above the Oct. 16, 2009 base rate of $1,232 per TEU. SCFI - SHANGHAI CONTAINERIZED FREIGHT INDEX n Shanghai export average spot rates for the following four trade lanes are among the 15 component trade lanes in the weekly SCFI — Shanghai Containerized Freight Index produced by the Shanghai Shipping Exchange and weigh 57.5 percent of the SCFI comprehensive reading. Jan. 23, 2015: The SCFI comprehensive reading was 1,091.48, 36.39 points or 3.4 percent above the week before, although 7 percent below a year ago.
